My Latest "Chair"-Do

How did you like that pun?..."Chair"-Do

Oh Ha Ha Ha...

I found this beauty on the side of the road...of course, he wasn't as snazzy.  Just a plain, lonely, oak wood chair, left out on the side of the road... in the rain.  I am so happy that I stumbled upon him!

Funny thing is, I have had an idea for this project for about 2 months...and I was just waiting to find the perfect chair.  And there he was, just 5 doors down, waiting for me to bring him home and spruce him up!

I wiped the chair down and spray painted it black.

Then I painted the pumpkin face onto the seat.

It still needed a little something so I rummaged through the craft room.

I found this piece of barn wood; perfect fit!

Painted Trick or Treat...Added some foliage and berries...Screwed it onto the chair and the rest is history.

My "cooking" pumpkin and nice, green gourd.

Love this time of year!

I have to tell you, I have never had trick-or-treaters before...I don't live in town or on a road with any children, in fact, I have very few neighbors at all...

And I don't even do the "halloween" thing... But the idea of giving out candy seems pretty fun!

So, with this chair, I went out on a limb...

Wouldn't this be great on the front porch as a greeter ?!

I think so!!

And after Halloween, I can switch out the sign...

Happy Favorite Time of the Year!

This Evenin's Accomplishments

I know that I told you I wasn't doing a whole lot of decorating since we are trying to sell our house... well who was I kidding. You know me, I can't NOT decorate...it's not in my nature to let a decorating opportunity pass by, especially this time of year. What can I say? My home was made for fall and Christmas decor! Our home is still on the market, we are still trying to sell it, but I still live here...so I'm making the most of it!

Worked on the mantel a bit. It needed a little sprucin' up...I like it.

I had a couple of those apothecary jars that I've been collecting from yard sales. I filled one with acorns, another with a few acorns and a small plastic pumpkin from the dollar store, and one with some faux fall leaves. I sat a few plastic pumpkins on top of some candle sticks, and a candle here and there... a stack of books and a glass cake plate as a risers.

A pumpkin from Hallmark and a few pictures of me and the hubby and there you have it...a fall mantel. All free...shopping from my craft room and the basement! No need to leave home!

And then there's the kitchen:

Here's another project that popped in my head and quickly onto the wall of my kitchen. Mama Skinny found this crate at a YARD SALE and I've been using it to store my cookbooks. Tonight as I was straightening up the kitchen, this idea came to me. Surprised? Not me, I don't clean without redecorating. That's when I get some of my greatest ideas! I think this is fantastic! And it creates a nice little shelf on top.

And the Foyer:

Link I just thought this looked so cute that I needed to take a picture. Do you see the common denominator in this photo... I'll give you a hint. It's a color... YELLOW! Ain't it purty!

Love Ya'll...nighty night! Big day tomorrow...the Hubby's birthday!

Busy bee...

The past 3 days, I have been a busy little bee. I have had several orders come in, all at the same time. Tonight, they are complete...yes! I can breathe a sigh of relief.

I don't know why but special orders make me nervous. It's like, I can't work on anything else until they're complete. I think it's all in my head but a completed project makes me a happy girl! Thought I would show you what I have been working on!

Mailboxes...
Aren't these great?! There is a dear lady I work with and she LOVES a painted mailbox. I love fall and I love pumpkins, so when I see these, it just makes me smile!!! They are painted the same on both sides and I spray them with a clear coat to seal them once they are dry...too bad I don't have a mailbox. Maybe that's something I should look into.

Scrap Wood and Barn Wood Signs...
I am in amore with some barn wood. I honestly don't believe you can mess the stuff up. I mean, you can take a piece and do nothing to it, hang it over a window or use it as molding, the stuff is just beautiful! And this laundry signed turned out to be a favorite of mine. You will be seeing a lot more of these, I PROMISE.

I am digging the colors in the "All Because..." sign, the background color is called Bread Basket. How lovely! It's actually the color of my living room...and doesn't everyone need a "Gathering Room?"

I am happy the girls are picking up there creations tomorrow, or I might have a hard time parting with them!

Bring on the Fall Decor

September 23 is officially the first day of fall. I don't know about you but for me, 55 degrees means its time to bring out the fall decorations! Who needs to wait on the calendar?

There is definitely a chill in the air down here, an unusual chill for the middle of September, but I don't know many who aren't welcoming it. I just LOVE this time of year...FiNaLLy turning off the AC, which means a power bill that doesn't make my heart pound, opening all the windows in the house, jogging britches, that's right...I call them britches. I love it!

Because we are waiting on our house to sell, I won't be bringing out all the decor this year. All different sizes and shapes of pumpkins that I won't be dusting off, garlands of grapevine and leaves that will stay rolled up in a storage bin, sprigs of fall sprays that won't be lining my kitchen cabinets...It seems silly to bring out any, since I am in the middle of boxing everything up, but Fall is one of my favorites...and my house looks really great dressed in fall apparel...so, this may be it. This one little lonesome dresser, welcoming each guest that walks through the door. Hopefully it will be enough...
