Psalm 3

God, it seems like the amount of people who dislike me continue to increase.  And the very ones whom I thought I could trust, they join in with my foes.  They are constantly nagging me, saying things like, "God can't hear you, He won't help you. "

But God, no matter what they say, I know that I can trust You.  When no one else is here for me, when I feel the loneliest, I know You are right beside me.  You are my protector and my shield.  You build a hedge of protection around me.  Everything I do, the life I live, the songs I sing, the words I speak, Lord, it is all for Your glory.  It isn't about me at all.  Father, You are my crown.  You hold me in Your hand, and You are the only reason I can keep my head held high, especially when everything and everyone is against me.  I know that you can hear me and when I call to You, You will answer me from heaven,  from Your holy throne.

Because You hear me, and because You answer me, and because You watch out for me, I can lay me head down on my pillow each and every night.  I can sleep without fear or worry, and when I wake up,  I am safe and secure, because You have been my watchman.  All night long You have been alert, keeping me from all harm.  For this reason, I am not afraid.  Even if tens of thousands hate me and want to destroy me, if they plotted together and surrounded me on all sides, You are the One who will save me, and keep me from harm.

Oh God, save me.  Get up and destroy all those who bad mouth me, and You.  Lord, slap them in the face, bust them in the jaw, for their greatest source of strength is their mouth. All they have is their words, their slandering, hate-filled, kick-you-when-your-down words.  But God, I know You win, and if I am on Your side, then I will be victorious!  Show favor on me, Your child!  Fight this battle for me!
