A Little Heart-to-Heart over Coffee

Goodness, I have missed you friend!  It's been a long 5 months and SO much has happened.  Little man is down for his morning snooze so I figured a little chat with you over coffee would be nice...we have some catching up to do!  If you were sitting with me right now, well, I'd be a little embarrassed.  Toys are everywhere, I'm still in my pj's, hairs a mess, and I haven't gotten around to brushing my teeth yet, but I would sure love your company.  For your sake, it's probably best that you are only reading this.

Where do we start.  I guess I can bring you up to date on all of the changes going on with our growing boy.  Our last chat was in May...I'm so sorry.  Bless you for being so patient with me, with my rants and whining, and for bearing with me in my sporadic posts.  May was a rough month and June, July, August, and September were pretty hard as well.  You've heard of Sleepless in Seattle, well June and July were Sleepless in North Carolina.  Teething and desiring to crawl and trying new foods kicked our backsides, along with a few other changes we weren't yet aware of.  But, we survived.

I've got the fever...

SPRiNG FEVER!

I know I'm not alone in this one.  This has been the longest, coldest winter I can ever remember.  I'm ready to break out the flip flops, hang some ferns, and get to playing in the garden.  I've had to settle with doing a little spring cleaning and redecorating inside the house for now.

Book Page Wallpaper and A Little Tour

As you might remember, we purchased a home about 16 months ago.  There are so many things that are perfect about our house...character, 2 bathrooms, a fireplace, hardwood floors, a craft room... but it's an old house.

Built in 1928.

With plaster walls.

Yeah, aesthetically they are really nice to look at, but they are quite the pain in the back side.  There's no insulation, they cause extreme pain when rubbed against elbows and knuckles with laundry baskets in tow, and they are near impossible to put a nail or screw in to hang something from.

September in Review...Past the Halfway Mark

So we are already halfway through September... my oh my.

This month has really flown for me because I have spent most of the time either on vacation or sick...  You can guess which I enjoyed more.

I thought I would share a few fun times and some things I have been working on.

Pour it Out...

It's that time of the year...
...for endings and new beginnings...

I was recently contacted to make a custom canvas for a sweet girl graduating from college.  Her mama wanted something special, something she could hold on to, and something in her school colors {ie... Appalachain State University...Go Mountaineers!!!}

She requested Erma L Bombeck's quote,
"When I stand before God at the end of my life,
I would hope that I would not have a single bit
of talent left and could say,
"I used everything You gave me.""

Traveling...without ever leaving home...

Traveling in the sense of a little piece of me visiting towns all over the US... through my painted scripture canvases and burlap flags.

When it comes to crafting and blogging and painting and creating...
I'm ready to go all in...
...head first...
...I mean really, what do I have to lose?

chair + paint + burlap

I found these two chairs at Habitat for $10 a piece.  A little more than I would have liked to spend on chairs but I am sure happy I did.

I love painting furniture...or what I like to call, giving it a face lift.. and my favorite color to paint is usually WHITE.  I'm sure my husband probably thinks I'm lacking in the creativity department because every time I bring home a piece of furniture to paint, he's like, "Let me guess, you're gonna paint it white?"  My response..."Yes sir!"

...Big Day For Me

I know these are some CHEESY pictures... but you can tell I'm excited about something, right? I had to share this big day with you guys!

I MADE MY FIRST ETSY SALE!!

...YAY! It only took 7 months but hey, I'm super excited. Someone in the grand ole state of Arkansas is going to be wearing something that I created!!! And I think that is the coolest thing!...

All packaged up and ready to go!!

I guess I should tell you what sold, right? It was that darling felted flower bib necklace...(if you click on that it will take you to where I blogged about it a while back.)

The funny thing is this...my husband absolutely could not stand that necklace, and I absolutely LOVED it! And you know I was in the biggest hurry to tell him that I sold an item from my Etsy shop, mostly so that I could tell him WHAT I sold. Guess it's a good thing I'm doing the crafting and not him, huh?

So long beautiful felted flower bib necklace. Enjoy Arkansas!

A Little Sonshine...the Perfect Remedy

I know, I know...it has been too long. I'm really gonna try harder at keeping this page current. Although, not much has been missed. Until this weekend, I hadn't picked up a paintbrush, a crochet hook, needle, thread, a piece of scrap wood...well you get the picture...anything, in quite some time. I have had such a desire to "create" but no motivation. Christmas has past, spring seems so far away, and the next craft show is in about 3 months. SO, what do I do? ...

...Well, I went to a Gift and Jewelry show with a dear, dear friend on Saturday...found a booth full of pin on ribbons and flowers, and immediately couldn't wait to get home and pour out my ideas onto a canvas...which in my case is a window. I had this old thing sitting outside, knowing something wonderful could come out of an old window with a missing pane....but what? Ta Da!...perfect for a little girls room, right? (Or this big girl for that matter!) And the ideas didn't stop there. Hopefully I will be posting pictures soon of some other creations.

With the sunny, WARM weather that decided to show up on my doorstep this weekend, which just happened to be the last weekend in...JaNuArY...God brought a warmth to my spirit and, like the flowers that He will soon enough create to burst forth from the dirt, He has filled me once again with ideas that I am busting at the seams to get my hands on.

So I have no holiday to create for, no up coming craft show, and no more room to store my completed creations, what am I gonna do with the creations that come from this spring of ideas?..I'm thinking Etsy may be just the place for me...Ya'll say a prayer for me...this is about to get exciting!
